The Standard herd will be split into two mobs this week. One mob will be R2s and R3s, along with any light-conditioned mixed-age cows, with the remainder of the mixed-age cows in the second mob.

To hold the spring rotation plan and area allocation, more supplement will be required by the Standard herd. The plan for the next week is 3 kg silage, 1 kg DDG/Barley and 2 kg PKE. With wet ground conditions and reduced utilisation, we decided to offer more in-shed feed, where we get good utilisation.

The Future herd will receive 1 kg DDG/Barley blend in-shed, with the remainder of the diet as pasture.

While we would like to start applying N fertiliser and soil temperatures are suitable, the ground conditions are not suitable for truck application. With sodden soils, the response would also be lower, so we will hold off until conditions improve.

We have started collecting pasture samples from our monitor paddocks to track pasture quality.

Calves have been disbudded and DNA samples taken this week. The oldest group, which are fully transitioned onto milk powder, will go outside next week.

We will be meeting with the grazier next week to start discussions around the mating plan for the yearlings, as well as weighing, drenching and Se/B12 and copper treatment.

Recruitment for a farm assistant has gone well, with an offer having been made this week.
